Welcome to Peace and Happiness

What is ISLAM?

Islam means to submit (or to hand yourself over) to ALLAH. It also means
peace. Which means a person can only find peace when he/she submits to the Creator. This submission must be at all times, from morning to evening, and from evening to morning, that
means Islam is a total way of life, and it is not confined to a few rituals performed now and then.
Muslims eat, drink, and sleep differently from everyone else. Dressing and cleanliness is very
important. All this must be learnt, so that we can be true Muslims.

The Five Pillars of ISLAM

1.

IMAN, that is to believe in and obey only ONE Allah (God), and to follow and accept.that
Muhammed(SAW) is the FINAL Prophet and Messenger of Allah

2.

Salaah (Prayers, Namaaz), five (5) times daily at the specified times.

3.

Fasting in the month of Ramadaan (9″” month of Islamic year)

4.

To pay ZAKAAT (giving charity from 2.5% of excess wealth), every year.

5.

Perform HAJ(pilgrimage) to the holy city of Mecca, once in a lifetime, if you have the
means.

These pillars are FARD (compulsory) on every Muslim. One of the most important one is
SALAAT which we must learn and perform(whilst still learning) the moment we accept Islam, to
avoid the displeasure of Allah and His punishment. To be able to read Arabic is necessary to
perform salaat While you are learning to read Arabic, which is easy, you can perform your salaat
with transliteration (pronouncing Arabic words using English letters), which is the method used
here. Consult a learned person to help you to pronounce the words correctly, as the meaning
changes with wrong pronounciation, which makes your salaah null and void.
Be conscious of Allah at all times, as this will prevent you from sinning, and make you realize that
SomeOne is watching, as every deed is recorded and you will be accountable for it. Do not do
anything to impress anyone besides Allah.
Learn daily more about Islam. Keep the company of the learned and pious people, and consult
them regularly and ask them to recommend good books. Do not be afraid to ask. Ignorance of the
law is no excuse. We remain students forever. There is much more enjoyment and reward when we
understand what we are doing and why, Dedicate a minimum of half an hour daily for learning.
Islam teaches us to respect everyone and not to look down upon anyone. Be honest in all dealings
with neighbours, parents, children, employers, employees, teachers and all mankind. Remember
that even animals, birds, insects, or any other creation may not be harmed without reason.
So by accepting Islam our whole life becomes revolutionized. Change requires sacrifice, and
the more we are prepared to sacrifice happily, the more we will benefit. Islam is a total way ot
life, in dressıng, eating, sleeping, abstaining from gambling and drinking alcohol, etc. Eating
pure (halaal) food is compulsory. This means that we have to take care about our earnings
(honesty). These few pages are a mere introduction to Islam (Starter Pack). Take time to learn
and understand it, and become a good example. Invite others. Improve and progress daily. Life
is short, A shy and proud person never learns.

Alhamdulillah Allah guided me to Islam many years ago. It started with a friend being interested in Islam, inviting me to attend a Halaqah class(gathering or meeting for the study of Islam) , after that I started reading Ahmed Deedat's book, then the Quran in English. As an adopted child I never really felt I belonged anywhere. That all changed when I discovered Islam. SubhanAllah ( Thanks to Allah) all the missing pieces just came together and I found a place in the ummah of our beloved Rasool Sallalahi Alahi Wasalm (Peace be Upon Him). Finally I felt that this is where I meant to be. Alhamdulillah it wasn't an easy journey, my family didn't speak to me for six years because I chose the deen, but it was so worth it. They speak to me now and I have a great relationship with them Alhamdulillah.
